He laughs softly and takes Steve's hand. "Then I'll stay right here. As long as you keep still."

Steve smiles at him and sits straight so the makeup artist can work.

She smiles thanks to Orpheus.

Orpheus returns the smile to both of them, amused by the whole situation.

A P.A. bustles in and pauses a moment, starstruck at the sight of Steve.

"Captain America," she says, "such a pleasure to meet you. I'm told you know the procedure so we can do this quickly."

"Good," Steve says, and they dive into what can and can't be talked about with the host.

Then the P.A. asks, "Now, about your social life, I know you're not--"

"Actually," Steve says, "I do want to talk about it this time."

The poor P.A. is so surprised she drops her Sharpie.

Orpheus can't help a surprised laugh at that, though he manages to keep it fairly muted.

"I'm in a serious relationship," Steve says calmly, "with this gentleman here. And I want to tell the country about him."

"Oh!" says the P.A., looking at Orpheus with a combination of surprise and envy. "Okay. Great. Um. We do actually have questions for that, if the need ever arose..."

"My only question is if you want him in the green room or the audience," Steve answers, and winks at Orpheus.

Orpheus gives her a smile and a wink when she looks over and grins at Steve when he asks his question.

"That's up to you, Mister..." She smiles nervously at Orpheus. "If you're in the audience, Ellen will probably want to have you come up to the stage. If you're in the green room, she may just want to show you briefly."

[ooc: Makes sense Steve would come out on Ellen, don't you think?]</small.

"Orpheus," he supplies. "And I don't mind either way. Lovely?" he adds, turning to Steve for his opinion.

[ooc: Awww, yes.]

"I'd love to have you in the audience," Steve says.

"Great!" says the P.A. "I'll let Ellen know. And then she'll want to know a few things like how you've met, how long you've been together, that sort of thing."

"I think those should all be okay to talk about," says Steve. "Not in too much detail, though. I'm not exactly keen on giving out my home address, for instance."

With an unspoken Unlike Tony, that knucklehead.

Orpheus smiles, feeling much better about this publicity than he had the publicity in his own world.

"I suppose it's a good thing I shaved this morning."

And wore clothing without holes...

"You look amazing," Steve says.

"Do you want to be made up?" the P.A. asks Orpheus.

"Only if you think I need it," he says, flashing her a charming smile.

She shakes her head slowly, going starry-eyed again. "You look fine, Mr. Orpheus." She beams at all of them. "I'll come get you to take you to a seat, Mr. Orpheus, and then I'll bring you on, Captain."

Orpheus turns his smile on Steve then as if to say, 'I don't need makeup, I'm that hot.'

Steve smiles back as if to say, 'I know, honey, I know.'

"Thank you," he says to the P.A. "We'll be ready."

Orpheus smiles at her again as she leaves and moves to take Steve's hand again. "Are you ready for this, lovely?"

Steve nods and looks at his reflection for a moment. "I'm ready for this."

He smiles and gives Steve's hand a squeeze. "All right, then."

The P.A. returns and beams at Orpheus. "Ready, Mr. Orpheus?"

Steve gives him an encouraging smile.

"As I'll ever be," he says, giving her another smile. "And it's just Orpheus. No Mister."

"All right. Orpheus. This way, please."

"See you in a few minutes," Steve calls after them.

Orpheus pauses on his way out to give Steve a brief kiss on his temple, careful of his makeup. "Love you, Galahad," he murmurs before turning to follow the P.A. out.

"Love you, music man," Steve says, watching him go.

He takes a deep breath a few times and closes his eyes, and then stands up to pace around the room while he waits for the P.A. to return.

Orpheus gets settled into his seat with a minimum of fuss, brushing off the P.A.'s offers to fetch anything for him. "Just take good care of him, okay?" he says when he finally convinces her to return.
