[OOM: Orpheus - after the release party]

The record label is putting Orpheus up for the night in a hotel near Central Park. No one looks twice when Orpheus is accompanied by the young man in a striped suit, not that questions would drive Steve from Orpheus's side anyway.

There's champagne and a fruit basket from the hotel, and once Steve has put the LP safely with his luggage, he snags an apple--the food at the party was good but tiny, and he's hungry again--and gets comfortable on the brocade couch as he has a bite and loosens his tie.

It's been something of an overwhelming night.

Steve is not the only one who was overwhelmed. Orpheus has no wish ever to do something like this again. (Though he knows he's going to have a nightmare of publicity ahead of him for the next couple months at least.)

He's already been drinking, enough to keep him tipsy throughout the party, but he still goes straight for the champagne.

"I'd ask if you had a good time, but I think the answer is a resounding no," Steve says quietly.

"Not really." Orpheus pours them each a glass and moves to sit next to Steve, dropping heavily onto the couch.

"But I wasn't expecting to. What about you?"

"Answering questions wasn't the best time ever," Steve admits, putting an arm around Orpheus's shoulders so he can play with his hair. "But I loved the music. I always love your music."

Orpheus smiles a bit at that. "Good. I'm glad you did."

Steve kisses him softly on his lips.

Orpheus leans his forehead against Steve's. "Did you enjoy any other parts?"

"I talked to a few interesting people. I liked watching people dance. The food was good." He smiles.

"Good," Orpheus says, kissing him again and then sitting back with his champagne.

Steve strokes Orpheus's shoulder. He asks softly, "Do you want to go to sleep soon?"

"I'm not really tired," Orpheus says, glancing over at him.

Steve's hand slides into Orpheus's hair. "Wanna stay up a while, then?"

"I would love to stay up a while," Orpheus says. "What did you have in mind."

"A little eating, a little drinking, a little necking..."

"I think I could get behind that idea..."

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"C'mere," says Steve, tugging on Orpheus's shoulder. "Have some of my apple. It's really good."

Orpheus chuckles and moves closer. "Really good, hm?"

"Taste," says Steve, holding the apple to Orpheus's mouth.

Orpheus smiles and curls his fingers around Steve's wrist, taking a bite.

Steve licks his lips as he watches Orpheus chew.

Orpheus's eyes flick down to Steve's lips.

Steve moves closer and whispers, "Good, isn't it?" before he leans in for a kiss.

"Mmhm," Orpheus murmurs, his fingers stroking over the inside of Steve's wrist.

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"Tart," murmurs Steve, kissing softly over Orpheus's face. "Juicy."

"Perfect," Orpheus says softly, closing his eyes.
