Steve wanted someplace warm, so Orpheus delivered Australia. Steve considered himself a fairly seasoned traveler, since he'd been to one end of the States to the other and seen as much of Europe as a man could in wartime--but Australia is like no place else. Ancient and mysterious while open and friendly, starkly beautiful in some places and overflowing with nature in others.

Best of all, there's no shortage of warmth.

Steve has acquired a decent tan on his pale Irish skin, a basic understanding of the Australian accent, and a reputation among other tourists of always winning the drinking contests.

Orpheus chuckles and sits back to eat.

Steve smiles again and digs in to his enormous meal.

Orpheus doesn't talk much as they eat, but he does watch Steve, fondly and seriously.

For at least the first ten minutes, Steve is too busy eating and making yummy noises to notice, but then finally does.

He self-consciously wipes his face. "I've got butter everywhere."

"No," Orpheus says, smiling. "You look amazing as usual."

Steve smiles bashfully and murmurs, "And covered in butter," as he wipes his face again with another from their pile of paper napkins.

[golden_lyre]

Orpheus smirks and licks a bit of butter from his fingertips. "It's a good look for you."

"Yes, yes," Steve says good-humoredly, "and you also like me naked and in burlap sacks and covered in sand, and it's a good thing you do because God knows I have yet to see you in a way that makes me not want to touch you."

Orpheus chuckles. "I'll see what I can do about that," he says.


[ooc: bedtime. OMG, last day and a half of school before break!]

"Maybe if you had the flu and smelled really bad," Steve says innocently.

"I've never had the flu," Orpheus points out, smirking.

"You are fair blessed, my boy," says Steve, still smiling.

"That I am," Orpheus agrees.

He's also never been sunburned.

The two are not unrelated.

While Steve is more freckled than he was when they arrived.

"My point being, I can't think of any circumstances that I wouldn't want to touch you."

"Yes, I thought that was what you were getting at," Orpheus says, smiling.

"Just making sure I'm being clear."

[golden_lyre]

"You usually are."

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"Good to know."

His foot touches Orpheus's.

Orpheus smiles and trails his toes up Steve's calf.

"Bet that's pretty clear too," Steve murmurs.


[ooc: Dinnertime soonish.]

"Yeah, I think I've got the gist," Orpheus says.


[ooc: Kaykay. It may be naptime for me. :)]

Steve drains his bottle and lays his last, well-used napkin on his empty plate. "Ready to go?"


[ooc: Kaykay. I'll be around when you wake up, I'm sure.]

"Yeah," Orpheus says softly, flagging down their waiter to pay the bill.

Steve smiles as he rests his chin on his folded hands.

Orpheus pays quickly and then gets up, offering Steve his hand.
