Steve wanted someplace warm, so Orpheus delivered Australia. Steve considered himself a fairly seasoned traveler, since he'd been to one end of the States to the other and seen as much of Europe as a man could in wartime--but Australia is like no place else. Ancient and mysterious while open and friendly, starkly beautiful in some places and overflowing with nature in others.

Best of all, there's no shortage of warmth.

Steve has acquired a decent tan on his pale Irish skin, a basic understanding of the Australian accent, and a reputation among other tourists of always winning the drinking contests.

Steve washes his face and checks for lingering sand, gives Orpheus another kiss and goes back into the bedroom to finish undressing.

He didn't think to bring PJs on this trip, but he doubts that's going to be a problem.

Orpheus has not once complained about the lack of sleepwear.

He follows after a few minutes and starts to shuck his own clothing.

Steve gets into bed and watches Orpheus, one arm behind his head.

"Are you going to be okay?"

Orpheus nods and crawls into bed after him. "Yeah. I'll be fine."

Steve turns off the light and wraps an arm around him. There are more kisses, soft and undemanding.

Orpheus settles against him, returning the kisses. After a moment, he sighs softly and cups Steve's cheek in his hand.

"I'm not going to break, lovely."

"Never thought you were," Steve murmurs. "But if you need to bend a little, I'm here."

"I'm not very good at bending," Orpheus says quietly.

Steve rubs his back.

Orpheus tucks his head against Steve's neck.

Steve kisses his hair.

He wants to make promises and plans, but the words don't feel right.

So he just holds Orpheus. He's always been pretty good at that part.

Orpheus would much rather have this than promises. He presses a kiss to Steve's shoulder.

It's still early-ish and Steve isn't tired, so he could go on nuzzling for quite a while.

Orpheus doesn't mind that at all. Eventually, he moves to kiss Steve slowly.

Steve holds Orpheus's face as they kiss, with a soft chuckle.

"What?" Orpheus murmurs against his lips.

"I thought you were tired."

"I never said that," Orpheus says, kissing him again.

"But you just wanted to sleep," Steve points out when they come up for air again.

"But then you were naked and touching me," Orpheus points out.

"Oh, so it's my fault," murmurs Steve, amused, and kisses him again.

"Of course," Orpheus agrees, curling his arms around Steve.

Steve chuckles again and kisses down Orpheus's throat.

"If you weren't," Orpheus continues breathily, "so godsdamned irresistible, we wouldn't be in this mess..."

Steve licks the hollow of Orpheus's throat.
