OOM: Orpheus

Seems like it's going to be one of those nights--the kind of night when Steve can't get Orpheus alone with him fast enough, can't kiss him passionately enough, can't get his hands on enough of Orpheus's skin.

"I know exactly how I want you tonight," Steve says as he pushes Orpheus through the doorway.

"Oh, honey." He strokes Orpheus's chest soothingly. "Why? Happiness should never hurt."

Orpheus lays his hand on top of Steve's, holding it to his heart. "It's just so much."

He strokes Orpheus's chest with his thumb. "It's just happiness, honey. It shouldn't feel heavy. It shouldn't hurt."

"It isn't heavy, lovely," Orpheus says quietly. "It's...big. Too big for my chest sometimes."

"This chest?" Steve murmurs and kisses over where Orpheus is holding his hand. "With this mighty heart?"

[golden_lyre]

"Yes, this chest," Orpheus says with a smile. "This heart. It isn't bad, my love."

"I love this heart." He kisses Orpheus's chest again.

After a moment he says, "I don't want you to be afraid to be happy. If I could give you anything, it would be that."

[golden_lyre]

"I'm not afraid," Orpheus murmurs, kissing Steve's hair.

"Pain is growth. It's necessary."

"And I'd protect you from it, honey."

[golden_lyre]

He laughs. "I know you would."

"That doesn't make you mad?"

[golden_lyre]

"I assume you mean if you could," Orpheus answers, arching an eyebrow.

"I do," Steve says and smiles.

[golden_lyre]

"Then no," Orpheus says, stroking his fingertips along Steve's cheek. "It doesn't make me mad."

Steve says softly, "God, I love you so much, honey," and kisses him, holding his face in both hands.

Orpheus kisses him slowly, arms around Steve's shoulders.

Steve presses his body against Orpheus's as close as he can, content to just neck for a while.

Orpheus lets his hands wander over Steve's skin lazily, stroking and mapping their way across back and shoulders.

The caresses make Steve purr.

Orpheus pulls back a little eventually, leaning his forehead against Steve's. "I want to keep you always," he whispers.

"I know you do," Steve whispers. "I'll let you."

[golden_lyre]

Orpheus lets out a slow breath, kissing Steve softly. "Thank you, my love."

Steve quietly laughs. "Thanks? For what?"

"For letting me keep you," Orpheus says with a faint smile.

"I'm yours," Steve reminds him gently. "It's only fair."
