OOM: Orpheus

Steve manages to get up the stairs without stumbling too much, and to their door without falling over his own feet.

The drinks he takes from the bottle don't help.

When they get to their door, he leans on the wall to stay upright while Orpheus gets his key.

"Used ta be a lightweight," he tells the wallpaper.

Orpheus keeps his kisses slow and sweet, hands stroking over Steve's shoulders and back.

Slow and sweet is good. Steve kisses him much more tenderly than he had earlier.

Orpheus hums against his lips, a sweet, comforting tune.

Steve slowly kisses Orpheus's throat, letting his lips linger where he can feel his voice vibrating.

Orpheus smiles faintly.

After a moment, he asks, "Are you ready for sleep?"

Steve nods.

"Being miserable is exhausting."

[golden_lyre]

"Yeah, it is," Orpheus agrees. He kisses Steve's forehead and moves to get out of the bed. "Let me clean you up first."

"Thanks," Steve murmurs, another true, though much smaller, smile crossing his lips.

Orpheus comes back a few moments later with a warm, wet cloth in his hand, and carefully cleans Steve's skin.

Steve watches him through his lashes, sometimes looking up to meet Orpheus's eyes.

Orpheus smiles gently down at him, and when he's finished, he kisses Steve's forehead and sets the cloth aside, climbing back into bed.

Steve drapes himself over Orpheus like he can't touch him enough.

Orpheus curls himself around Steve as well.

"Good night, sweetheart," Steve whispers.

[golden_lyre]

"Good night, lovely," Orpheus murmurs in response.

Steve stays close to him all night. His sleep, while it's not peaceful, is much better than Steve even hoped.

Orpheus keeps his arms around Steve. He doesn't sleep much, wanting to be ready if Steve needs him.
