OOM: post-Slenderman with Orpheus

After all the ups and downs and adrenaline rushes of the day, one hopes Steve can be forgiven for pushes Orpheus against the door as soon as its closed and kissing him senseless.

Steve brushes his fingers through Orpheus's hair and over his face, kissing him slow and gentle.

Orpheus pulls back after a moment, leaning his forehead against Steve's.

"Love and live and be happy," he murmurs.

Steve smiles. "Are you blessing me, sweetheart?"

"Sort of?" Orpheus says. "Only it's not my blessing. It's...what she said to me."

Steve blinks, the smile fleeing.

"Oh," he says softly, looking like he doesn't know whether to be worried, upset, or awed.

Orpheus frowns in concern, brushing his thumb over Steve's cheek. "What are you thinking, lovely?"

Steve huddles closer to him and tucks his head against Orpheus's shoulder.

"I don't know," he says honestly.

Orpheus kisses his forehead.

"I think it was...meant as a benediction," he says. "Or...an exhortation. I'm not sure."

Or a release. He's not sure how he feels about that possibility.

"A wish," Steve says softly. "A wish for you."

He presses himself closer to Orpheus.

"Maybe," Orpheus agrees, arms wrapping around Steve. "Maybe...a wish for both of us."

Steve inhales slowly. "That'd be...really good."

"Yeah," Orpheus says softly. "Yeah, it would."

He strokes his thumb along Orpheus's cheekbone. "What do you want it to be?"

"I don't know," Orpheus says, curling his fingers around Steve's wrist.

Steve studies his face, then kisses him between his brows. "I want it to be a blessing," he whispers. "What she wants for you. What she wants you to do."

Orpheus turns his head to kiss Steve's palm. "I...hope so."

Steve cradles Orpheus's face and lays down his head.

"It's what I want for you too," he says softly.

Orpheus kisses his hair. "Maybe if enough people wish it..."

"I think the most important one to wish it is you," Steve says mildly.

[golden_lyre]

"I don't know that I have it in me to wish that," Orpheus admits. "Not with any kind of faith."

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"Not even tiny bit of faith? That's supposed to be enough. Mustard-seed-sized."

[golden_lyre]

"For your kind of people, perhaps."

Steve shakes his head at Orpheus's stubbornness and nestles closer, an arm across his chest to hold him.

"I'd offer you all of mine but I don't think it works that way."

[golden_lyre]

"No, I don't think it does," Orpheus says, relaxing against him.

Steve is quiet a while, stroking Orpheus's chest.

"So I'll wish," he says softly, "and do what I can, if you promise to try too."
