OOM: Orpheus

Steve does not hustle Orpheus upstairs.

This is not to say he doesn't have plans. The way his hand lingers on the small of Orpheus's back is practically suggestive.

Orpheus groans as he takes it, his legs slipping a bit, sweat making them slide over Steve's skin.

Steve's body tenses and he rises up on the balls of his feet. He makes a few more sharp thrusts and then buries his face in Orpheus's neck with a broken cry, trembling as he comes.

Orpheus presses his face into Steve's hair, humming softly, a light, trembling tune. "Steve," he whispers. "Fuck..."

Steve eases his grip around Orpheus. His body is slick with perspiration but his arms don't shake from holding Orpheus for so long.

Orpheus' do, but he doesn't let go of Steve. He isn't sure he'll be able to stand on his own.

Steve pulls out carefully. He asks, with a kiss beside Orpheus's ear, "Can you stand?"

"I don't know," Orpheus admits, his voice a bit rough and still a little breathless.

Steve chuckles roughly and carries him to the bed. "This isn't a statement on your masculinity," he says he lays Orpheus down, and he crawls onto the bed beside him.

He runs a hand over his face, looking stunned.

For once, Orpheus isn't thinking anything along those lines. He tucks himself against Steve, not wanting to break the connection he felt.

Steve kisses Orpheus's forehead and rubs his back. He rests his cheek on the top of Orpheus's head.

After taking a long moment to catch his breath and settle in, Orpheus murmurs quietly, "I want this to last."

Steve brushes Orpheus's hair back from his face. "So do I."

Orpheus looks at him seriously, leaning in to kiss him after a moment.

Steve kisses him sweetly, stroking his face.

Orpheus rests his hand on Steve's chest, staying close to him, almost curled against him.

Steve keeps him close, kissing him gently. There are a great many things he still wants to ask, but they'll wait. For now he's content with touching and being touched, holding and being held.

Orpheus curls an arm loosely around Steve's waist, just wanting to stay close.

Eventually he says, "You fuck like a god, you know."

Steve laughs. He was not expecting that. "Thank you. I had an excellent teacher."

Orpheus chuckles. "I don't fuck you like that."

"Applied knowledge," Steve murmurs and kisses him.

After a moment he says, "When we finished our mission today all I wanted was to get back to you. I wanted to prove I made it--prove to you that you had nothing to worry about."

Orpheus gives him a look that is just this side of patronizing. "You made it through a mission, Steve. That doesn't mean you're indestructible."

"I don't think that I am," Steve says. "But I am very good at what I do.

"And you'd better believe that I'll be coming home to what home I have."

[golden_lyre]

"I believe you'll do your very best," Orpheus says.

After a moment, he adds, "When I finished that stupid interview, all I wanted was to get here and see if I could find you."

Steve smiles and kisses the top of Orpheus's head again.

Orpheus smirks up at him. "I figured you'd help me take my mind off it at least."
