In the past twelve hours, Steve has been dressed for exactly two of them. he and Orpheus have slept, lounged, talked, necked (and more, wink wink), ate and slept some more. He's listened to Orpheus hum and even sing a little, and he's watched Orpheus sleep and stroked his hair, and felt equally happy doing both.

This has been one of the ... best days of Steve's life.

Steve frowns for a moment, then simply nods and gets out of bed.

Orpheus watches him a moment before getting out of bed himself and heading for the bathroom.

He wants to be able to say something to reassure Steve, but he has nothing.

Steve picks at some dried semen on his stomach. "I feel like a French postcard."

Orpheus chuckles at that, moving to turn on the shower. "You'd make a very enticing one."

Steve smirks at him and strikes a bodybuilder pose.

Orpheus laughs and moves to kiss him.

"I wouldn't quit my day job if I were you, lovely."

Steve kisses him back. "Wouldn't, anyway."

He gets into the shower.

Orpheus steps in after him. "Because you're a hero."

"Because the only person I want to see me naked is you."

[golden_lyre]

Orpheus curls his arms around Steve and kisses the back of his neck, pressing himself against Steve's back and resting his head against Steve's shoulder.

Steve lays his hand over Orpheus's. "Orpheus? Sweetheart?"

"Hm?"

"I feel like there's a lot you're not saying."

[golden_lyre]

Orpheus presses his palm flat against Steve's chest, leaning his forehead against Steve's spine.

"If there is," he says after a moment, "it's because I don't know how to say it."

Which is, in itself, a very difficult thing for him to admit.

Steve breathes slowly, enjoying the feeling of being surrounded by Orpheus.

"Can you sing it to me?"

"No," Orpheus murmurs. "I...I don't know what it is."

Steve turns and takes Orpheus's face in his hands to kiss him. "It's big and it's warm and it's scary and it's wonderful," Steve says quietly, "and every time I look at you it gets bigger and scarier until it fills me up. And when I'm away from you, it scratches at me, wanting to get back to you, and it's not happy until I'm with you again."

Orpheus takes hold of Steve's wrists and pulls his hands away from his face, taking a step back. "Gods, Steve... You shouldn't. You shouldn't feel that way about me."

"Why shouldn't I? What do you think all of this is about?"

[golden_lyre]

"Because I'm broken," Orpheus says. "Because you deserve better. You deserve someone who will feel that same way about you.

"I...don't know what this is about. I know that I like it. I don't know any more than that."

"I decide what and who I deserve," Steve says quietly, drawing Orpheus to him, "and I deserve you. Beautiful," he kisses Orpheus gently, "talented," he kisses Orpheus again, "confusing you."

Orpheus sighs and lets Steve pulling him close. He slides his arms around Steve again, tucking his face against Steve's neck.

He still doesn't know what to say.

Steve picks up the soap and rubs it over Orpheus's back. The paint runs down his body is multi-colored streams.

Orpheus allows that as well, for the moment just resting against Steve, trying not to think about the confusing whirl of emotions going on inside him at the moment.

Steve kisses his hair.
