OOM: Orpheus

It's true that Steve wants a shower. He's grimy and sooty and fairly certain he smells like cordite.

It's also true that Steve would like to go swimming tonight, because while the days are still mild the nights are growing cooler, and it's a good bet bad weather isn't far away.

What happens between those...well.

Orpheus chuckles softly. "Yeah. Yeah, I'm definitely okay."

Steve smiles and kisses up Orpheus's body, licking the mess on his stomach, so he can tuck his head in the crook of Orpheus's shoulder.

Orpheus curls his arms around Steve with a satisfied sigh.

"Got soot on you," Steve murmurs with a sleepy chuckle.

"Good thing we were going to shower," Orpheus says.

"Got sidetracked from that, huh." Steve leans his head on his hand.

"Yeah, funny how that happens," Orpheus says with a smile.

"I think it's a soldier thing."

"Expediency?"

[golden_lyre]

"No, the need to fuck after coming home from battle."

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

Steve laughs. "Oh, of course." He kisses Orpheus's chest and murmurs to his skin, "Still alive. Still breathing."

"Yeah, that and the adrenaline," Orpheus says, smirking.

"I think that crashed somewhere over the English Channel."

[golden_lyre]

"Too bad I can't be on the front with you."

Steve strokes Orpheus's chest. "I prefer knowing you're far away from it."

"It's not like it would kill me..."

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"I know. My first instinct would still be to protect you."

[golden_lyre]

"I could wait for you on the plane?"

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"You'd be in for a long wait." Steve crosses his hands on Orpheus's chest and rests his chin on top of them. "And I don't know how I'd explain you to the guys, either. My personal morale booster?"

"Sure, why not?" He grins down at Steve. "I'm sure no one could argue you don't deserve one."

"No sex in the cargo hold," Steve cautions. "That would be going too far."

"Well, now you're just taking all the fun out of it."

"Modern warfare just doesn't lend itself to indiscriminate fucking," says Steve before he cracks up.

"And this is what people call progress," Orpheus says with a laugh.

Steve kisses him lightly and slaps his side. "C'mon. Shower." He gets to his feet.

Orpheus pulls himself up with a groan. "Yes, all right."
