OOM: Orpheus

Picnic basket in hand, Steve goes looking for Orpheus. He's got a romantic evening planned--all he needs is one immortal musician.

He comes up behind Orpheus and slides his arm across Orpheus's chest, dropping a kiss on his ear. "Hey, music man."

"Hey, Galahad," Orpheus says, smiling warmly. "You ready for this?"

"I'm ready." He rests his chin on Orpheus's shoulder for a moment. "Are you?"

"Absolutely. Where are we headed?"

"I have the picnic blanket if you want to go outside, or we can go upstairs. It might be warmer there, but I could always build a fire outside..."

"It's up to you, lovely." He doesn't really get overly cold often. Something about being a favorite of Apollo's.

"Outside, then." He nods his head to the door.

He's added a sweatshirt to his workout clothes. He'll be warm enough, for now.

"All right," Orpheus says, getting up and offering Steve his hand. "Let's go." He slings his guitar over one shoulder and tucks the DVD player under his arm.

Steve takes his hand. "Did you get a movie?" he says as they walk out.

"I did," Orpheus says. "I hope it's scary enough for you."

"I'm sure it'll be fun." He leans his head on Orpheus's shoulder a moment.

"I'm sure it will," Orpheus agrees.

"Which way did you want to head?"

"The clearing that looks out at the mountains."

[golden_lyre]

Orpheus smiles. "You really like it there, huh?"

"It's got a good view," Steve says mildly and slants a look at him.

[golden_lyre]

"Yeah, I guess it does," Orpheus says softly, smiling back at him.

Steve smiles back and squeezes his hand.

It's a little harder to find in the twilight, but Steve's got a great memory for spaces.

Orpheus lets him lead the way, trusting they won't get too terribly lost.

"Here we are," Steve says as he leads Orpheus through the trees, and the woods part to reveal the lake, shimmering in the moonlight, and the serene mountains beyond.

"I'm going to get some wood for a fire. Will you spread the blanket and get the food out?"

"Yeah, of course," Orpheus says, setting his guitar aside to unpack the basket and set up the DVD.

Steve returns with an armful of firewood and kindling, and he clears a space near the blanket to build up a fire.

It's crackling away merrily soon enough. He takes off his sneakers and relaxes on the blanket.

Orpheus shucks his shoes as well and moves to sit next to him.

"Where'd you learn to build a fire?"

"Observation." He kisses Orpheus quickly. "I pick things up fast.

"What did Bar give us for dinner?"

[golden_lyre]

"Yeah, you do," Orpheus murmurs against his lips.

"It looks like chicken and salads of various kinds." Bar clearly took Steve's metabolism into account when she packed the basket.

"Yum," Steve says and gives him another kiss before he starts loading a plate.

"Movie while we eat or after?"

"While, I think," Orpheus says, putting together a plate of his own. "Unless you're worried you'll choke or something."
