The Tale of Steve Rogers, part 1
Jun. 20th, 2012 07:19 pmOnce upon a time there was a boy named Steve. Steve had a brave father who died in a war, and a brave mother who nursed the sick until sickness killed her. It's probably no wonder that Steve, even though he was small and sickly, grew up to be brave too.
Steve became an artist, because he had a great imagination and talented fingers, and read a lot of books about knights and soldiers and wars fought long ago. He was still brave, even though his bravery earned him bruises far more often than it earned him praise.
Then one day a very bad man started a war, and Steve wants to fight. But because Steve is still small and sickly, no one can see his bravery, no matter how many people he tries to convince that he would make a worthwhile soldier.
His best friend is going to fight. Everybody Steve knew is going to fight. Steve is going to be left behind.
Steve was taught to defend people who needed defending, to be respectful toward things that deserved respect, and to do the right thing because it's the right thing to do.
Steve doesn't want to be left behind anymore.
Steve is about to take a journey he never imagined possible.
Steve is about to open a door.
